Condensing Boiler This is a design of boiler which can have an increased efficiency over the more traditional boiler. The efficiency of a typical non-condensing boiler is around 75%, whereas with condensing boilers it can be over 87%. This increased efficiency is due to the extraction of heat from the otherwise wasted flue gases.
Condensing boilers can provide significant energy savings due to operating efficiencies as high as 98% as compared to a peak efficiency of 80% for a conventional boiler. However, specifying a condensing boiler does not guarantee achieving anticipated savings; careful attention must be paid to the heating water system as a whole.
Analysis of the utility bill data showed that all of the condensing boiler installations are realizing significant savings. These savings ranged from 16% to 41% reduction in energy use. This analysis included weather normalization to compare pre- and post-retrofit gas usage on equal grounds.
Butcher (2004) concluded that a condensing boiler with outdoor reset could operate in a condensing range 96% of the season for natural gas, 90% for propane, and 80% of the season for #2 fuel oil. Condensing Facts (AHRI 2008): • Nearly 10% of the heat in natural gas is …
Condensing boiler technology is one of the most efficient forms of fuel heating available today. It is also one of the most environmentally friendly. The “ASOLUTE AS SERIES” condensing boiler essentially increases overall efficiency with the recovery of latent heat contained in the flue gases.
non-condensing boiler, this water remains in a vapor state and is completely removed from the system in the ue gas, whereas in a condensing boiler, the water vapor is encouraged to condense as it is cooled below its dew point. The condensation of the ue gas enables the recovery of 970 Btu/lb (2256 kJ/kg) of latent energy,
When a Flue Gas Heat Recovery System is fitted to the boiler it becomes a condensing unit. So, a boiler that takes its water supply directly from the mains and produces heating and hot water for your home from one compact unit is a Combi boiler and with the addition of a Flue Gas Heat Recovery System it becomes a condensing unit too. Thus making it a condensing Combi boiler. Condensing Boiler …

The heat passing through your boiler’s flue contains carbon dioxide, a harmful chemical to people and the planet. A condensing boiler recaptures much of the heat that is released as carbon dioxide by a conventional boiler. As a result, it does less harm to the environment.
Condensing boilers are water heaters fueled by gas or oil. They achieve high efficiency (typically greater than 90% on the higher heating value) by condensing water vapour in the exhaust gases and so recovering its latent heat of vaporisation, which would otherwise have been wasted. This condensed vapour leaves the system in liquid form, via a drain.
